NYX Honey Dew Me Up Primer

Here’s a description of the product according to NYX’s official website:

Inspired by honey’s golden glow, we developed a primer that neutralizes the appearance of discoloration and redness. Our innovative light reflective gold flecks create a luminous look that will help keep your skin looking radiant all day.
Performance:
• What it is: A gel primer infused with honey, gold flecks, and collagen.
• What it does: Preps and primes face for makeup application.
• Why we love it: This primer is loaded with beneficial ingredients for your skin. Honey is a natural antiseptic, while the gold flecks increase skin radiance, and collagen strengthens skin.
• How to use: Apply to clean, moisturized face. Wait 2-5 minutes for product to set completely. Apply your choice of foundation, powder, tinted moisturizer, or BB cream. Can also be worn alone.
Price: $17.00 USD

My Opinion:
Well I bought this little gold jar of primer impulsively since it looked cool, and NYX is one of the most affordable drugstore brands. So I said, “why not?”
Packaging
The packaging caught my eye because the lid was gold and the formula was yellow and I like bright and colorful things. So the outside, to me, is pretty aesthetically pleasing. The only downside is that the top comes off and becomes a spatula so you have to scoop out the product… I do not like this aspect because 1. It’s really annoying 2. It’s unsanitary 3. It really annoying. Maybe they couldn’t use a pump because of the “gold flecks”. Anyway, for packaging, the only problem I have is that it is a spatula and not a pump. Moving on…

Formula

  • Texture/Formula – The texture of this feels like aloe vera, and. When you apply it to your skin, it will make you look dewey. It’s a cool gel that is slightly sticky (duh, honey), but it did absorb into my skin. The gold flecks are useless. Completely useless. They’re random and too big to give your skin any “radiance”
  • Scent – it has a strong antiseptic scent when you smell it from the bottle, but when you apply it to your skin it’s a nice fresh clean scent
  • Performance – Eh, there’s not a difference when I put this on under my makeup. If anything, my powder foundation sticks a little more because of the sticky primer. But otherwise, nothing was really different. As a serum maybe though this product would be good. It feels nice and from other reviews I’ve seen it helps them with their skin.

So the big question is, would I recommend it to you or buy it again? The  answer is a simple, “no”.
